Two Downtown Streets Closed Wednesday

The city of Spokane is advising drivers to find alternate routes Wednesday as two downtown streets will be closed.  Washington and Stevens streets from First to Third avenues will be closed as part of the Second Avenue Rehabilitation Project.

Crews will be paving the south half of Second avenue between Browne and Howard streets.

Drivers are recommended to use alternate routes Wednesday including the Division/Browne and Ash/Maple corridors.

More Roads Closing For Construction Downtown

Here's some good news about road construction through downtown Spokane this week from City Hall:

Washington and Stevens streets from First to Third avenues will be closed on Wednesday, July 27, as part of paving work on Second Avenue rehabilitation project.  The south half of Second Avenue between Browne and Howard streets will be paved, and motorists should consider alternative routes, including the Division/Browne streets and Maple/Ash streets corridors.

Southwest Airlines to end Spokane-Seattle flights

Southwest Airlines to end Spokane-Seattle flights

Southwest Airlines is getting rid of four flights each day between Seattle and Spokane starting Jan. 8.

This is part of a package of schedule changes that will result in 102 fewer flights in a cost-cutting move.

There will be no direct flights between Spokane and Seattle on Southwest.

Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air still have flights.

Spokane passengers will still be able to get to Southwest destinations through Portland and other hub cities such as Denver and Phoenix.

The Sons of Norway Viking Boat will be not only be restored by this weekend but will be the place on Country Homes Blvd to drop off items to help the children of Olive Crest. The "Fill the Boat" campaign is looking for back to school supplies for kids of all ages, also blankets and monetary donations. Money will be used to fill the gaps and also will be used for some much sought after and enjoyed summer entertainment or camps. The Festival and Fundraiser will be Saturday, 9am to 3pm. Tents will be set up selling cool stuff with portion of the proceeds also going to Olive Crest.
