Not only does the actor hail from Spokane, he's raising money to help local people here. He's hosting the 2nd Annual Craig T. Nelson Celebrity Golf Classic to raise money for Lilac Services for the Blind.

Spokane Mayor Mary Verner is throwing an election party on the night of August 16 for her supporters.

The Mayor will hold the event from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. at the Sidebar & Grill at 1011 W. Broadway.

Her campaign is providing appetizers and soft drinks while the ballots are counted.

One of the best places to view an upcoming passing of the International Space Station on August 16th is the Spokane area starting at 9:27 p.m. A 11 minute viewing will begin in the southwest area of the sky as it travels north of the city to the northeast.
