Craig T. Nelson Celebrity Golf Tourney

Craig T. Nelson Celebrity Golf Tourney

When you live in any small to mid-sized town, it's customary to talk about the famous people who live there. You'd never go down the laundry list of stars that live in your town, if you lived in L.A. But in Spokane, we love to sight the famous people who call this City home... including our favorite coach, Craig T. Nelson.

Not only does the actor hail from Spokane, he's raising money to help local people here. He's hosting the 2nd Annual Craig T. Nelson Celebrity Golf Classic to raise money for Lilac Services for the Blind.

The Davenport Hotel opens up the Circus Room as a new guest room

The Davenport Hotel opens up the Circus Room as a new guest room

The Davenport Hotel's Circus Room is the only surviving guestroom in the hotel. It was originally created in 1935 as a party room to welcome a childhood friend of Louis Davenport to Spokane. Harper Joy was retiring from Ringling Brothers Circus as a clown and room 730 became an "inside joke" created by sign painter, A. Rutgers VanderLoeff.

The room has never been available as a sleeping room. Up until this point, it was used as a meeting room or for birthday parties.

Tuesday night will feature an "excellent visible pass" of the International Space Station

Tuesday night will feature an "excellent visible pass" of the International Space Station

One of the best places to view an upcoming passing of the International Space Station on August 16th is the Spokane area starting at 9:27 p.m. A 11 minute viewing will begin in the southwest area of the sky as it travels north of the city to the northeast.

Real time satellite trackings define this as an excellent visible pass. Its maximum altitude at 9:32 p.m., reaches a magnitude (measurement of brightness) of -2.5. If you're not sure how bright that is, -2.5 is also the minimum brightness of a new moon.
