Beer and charity! Talk about a great mix. The 3rd Annual Monroe Street Pub Crawl is just weeks away. The bender includes a 3.5 mile trek along Spokane's historic Monroe Street and includes visits to about 10 establishments, depending of course on your endurance.  It's all to raise money for health care for kids in Jamaica.

Press Release - The 11th Annual Ride for Life motorcycle rally benefiting Cancer Patient Care will take place on July 16, 2011. Bikers will gather at each of thirteen different Ride Hosts, including many area motorcycle shops, to embark upon multiple scenic group rides. Part-way through their ride, many of the groups will gather in Spirit Lake, Idaho, to complete the ride in to Curley's Hauser Junction all together. Once they arrive, they will be treated to a barbecue, music, silent and live auctions, drawings, and prizes.

Budget Talks...Who's Going To Budge?

Budget talks between President Barack Obama and his GOP rivals remain at a frustrating standstill as lawmakers return to the White House for another negotiating session today. At Tuesday's House Republican Leadership Press Conference, Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris-Rodgers told reporters both sides of the aisle must work together to make ends meet. McMorris-Rodgers says before House Republicans even consider raising the debt ceiling, there needs to be significant spending cuts. Democrats say those cuts will affect important programs that we depend on today.

Inland Northwest Honor Flight is making it's third trip of 2011 this Friday July 15 at 11:55. Vets will be gathering at the Spokane Airport about 10:30 am...they will return Sunday July 17 at 4:20 in the afternoon. INWHF will be making a special presentation on Friday July 15 to the family of Pvt. Herman Sturmer whose remains were recently returned to Spokane. Inland Northwest Honor Flight continues to honor our living World War II vets for their sacrifices and especially those who paid the ultimate price--giving their lives to protect our freedoms.

That's why the Inland Northwest Health Services Foundation is giving women looking to enter the workforce a leg up. It's hosting the 8th Annual Wardrobes for Women Event.

Downtown Spokane Liquor Violations

Two downtown Spokane stores were caught selling alcohol to a minor during a regular compliance check by the Washington State Liquor Control Board between June 30th and July 1st. Liquor enforcement officers conduct these compliance checks with the help of individuals ages 18 to 20-years old. They must either present their true identification or none at all if asked by a clerk. Officers visited 16 businesses total during their Eastern Washington check. Another City Passes a Plastic Bag Ban

The Bellingham City Council voted 7-0 last night to approve a new ordinance that will ban most plastic shopping bags in the city limits. The ordinance will take affect one year after it becomes law. The group behind the ordinance is called Bag It Bellingham. They collected 3,400 signatures in support of the ordinance and received support from 16 of the 25 Bellingham neighborhoods.
