Weekly AIM Report for the Week of May 18-25th

All three types of burglary, commercial, residential and garage, have seen an increase this past week according to the weekly AIM report released by the City of Spokane Police Department. Their crime trend debrief says that commercial burglaries have been above historical levels for the second week in a row. The bulk of incidents have been in the north east part of Spokane.

Have you ever wanted to be able to just go out and collect your own fresh chicken eggs - but don't know where to start?  Well, now's the time to learn.  Paul and Susan are teaching a class "Chicken Keeping 101" at Sun People Dry Goods Co., 32 W 2nd Ave., Ste. 200 in Spokane for $20.  You'll benefit from their years of experience learning about housing, breed selection, feeding, raising chicks and egg production.  Class begins this Saturday, June 4 from 2:30-5pm.  The class size is limited so please make sure you pre-register.

Vendors lined each wall and filled the air with aromas of pastys, cupcakes, huckleberry popcorn, fresh flowers, sausage and more.

Westview Elementary School Groundbreaking

Spokane Public Schools broke ground this morning on a new Westview Elementary School.  The new building will cost $10.5 million dollars and have room for more than 500 students.  The old Westview Elementary building will remain open during construction .  Crews have already cleared the land for the new facility on the southeast corner of the playground.

The Spokane Regional Light Rail website has been quite for what seems like months or even years. Their last official update was in 2006. Seattle has been progressing with their light rail projects, but a recent article with Publicola, a Seattle blog, asks if light rail is on track.
