Red Dress Collection visits Spokane | Arts & Culture
Heart disease is the number one killer of American women. Tonight, the Heart Truth Campaign will be at the Bozzi Collection with some of the Red Dress designer gowns to raise awareness of the statistics and to promote healthy lifestyles for women.
“In May we celebrate Mother's Day and National Women's Health Week, The Red Dress Collection is a great reminder of the importance of women's health and we challenge women to use this month to get screened, get active and eat healthy,” says Cherie Skager, Vice President of The Hope Heart Institute.
During the month of May, dresses from the Red Dress Collection are traveling throughout Washington for fun, ladies night out style, events that also serve as an education on heart health. Four of the dresses will be on display at the Bozzi Collection.
The Red Dress Collection was started along with the Heart Truth Campaign in 2002. Every year famous designers create red gowns for a fashion show in New York City that features celebrity models. The dresses visiting Spokane were designed by Christian Siriano, Zac Posen, Diane Von Furstenberg and the J. Crew Collection. There were initially modeled by Valerie Bertinelli, Dita Von Teese, Josie Perez and Robin Roberts.
The evening will feature complimentary chocolate, provided The Chocolate Apothecary, cheese, provided by Sonders, and wine, provided by Arbor Crest. Skager says the event is designed to open a dialogue about a health issue that's normally viewed as “man's disease”.
“We want women, no matter what their age, to sit back and figure out how to make themselves healthier,” says Skager, “We hope they start making changes, even if it's just one little thing at a time.”
This free event is tonight, May 17th, at the Bozzi Collection from 5pm-8pm. The Bozzi Collection is located on the second floor of the old city hall building, just up the stairs from The Olive Garden.
