Spokane Delegation Travels to Limerick | Arts & Culture
The Lilac Festival Royal Court and Spokane Mayor David Condon are among a group that is traveling to Spokane's Sister City in Ireland for a scenic tour. They will be joined by other Lilac Festival representatives as well as the President of the Spokane-Limerick Sister City Society.
Limerick and Spokane have been Sister Cities since 1990. Limerick is one of four Sister City partnerships, Spokane is also partnered with Nishinomiya, Japan; Jecheon, South Korea; and Jilin, China. The partnerships enable the cities to share their cultures and create bonds with Spokane.
This most recent delegation to Limerick left Spokane with a grand send off at the Spokane International Airport on Friday morning.
Irish Son and Cultural Scholar, Dr. Peter Tormey, will lead the group on scenic tour of Ireland that includes stops in Limerick, Dublin, Cork, Killarney, Dingle and Galway. The group will be meeting with dignitaries throughout the country along the way.
