Women Helping Women luncheon raises $265,000 | Community Spirit
Monday’s Women Helping Women benefit luncheon was a huge success bringing in $265,000 for women and children living in poverty in the Spokane community. KXLY 4’s Kris Crocker emceed the annual event. Chris Gardner, author of “The Pursuit of Happyness”, was the keynote speaker and left the audience stunned with by a special surprise.
The end of Gardner’s keynote address was the highlight of the event attended by 1,700 people. Gardner made a $10,000 personal donation to the Women Helping Women Fund in honor of his companion Holly Norwick, who passed away in 2012.
The nonprofit was founded in 1992 to raise awareness about women and children living in poverty in our community. Since then, the Women Helping Women Fund has raised more than $6 million to assist programs that offer aid to those in need.
