Woman parts with three rings for the Salvation Army | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
Some very gracious people are doing their part this holiday season helping those in need - even if it means parting with something they care about.
We reported earlier a Morgan dollar being dropped in a Salvation Army kettle. The individual had kept the silver coin for over twenty years. Even though they faced unemployment and home foreclosure, they bravely gave a gift that would help somebody else in need.
The Salvation Army received a note today from the woman who gave a three rings - two diamond and one saphire ring - to the Salvation Army. The first diamond ring was wrapped in a dollar bill and dropped in a Salvation Army kettle at the Browne’s Addition Rosauers. A local jeweler assessed the first diamond ring between $2,000 and $5,000.
Hello, I am the lady that donated the heart shaped diamond gold ring. I grew up hearing stories about how the Salvation Army fed and clothed my grandfather for years while he lived on the streets. I knew the money from the ring would be used to help people with needs. Thank you for all you do.
God bless you.
P.S. Please look for a sapphire and diamond ring in a kettle in memory of my daughter Amy!
Sheila Geraghty, The Salvation Army, says all three rings have been discovered and the final two are currently being assessed for price.
Happy holidays.
