U.S. Navy Planning "Navy Week" in Spokane | Community Spirit

The United States Navy is visiting 15 cities this year for their “Navy Week” to conduct outreach to communities who see a lack of Navy presence. Spokane is on the list for them to visit this year during the week of May 14th-20th. And no, they’re not bringing any ships up the Spokane River from the Columbia River. Just because the city is landlocked, doesn’t mean that’s going to stop them.

The Navy will feature the following activities in their Spokane Navy Week according to a Monday press release:

• “Leap Frogs,” The Navy Parachute Team
• Navy Band musical performances
• Admirals and other senior Navy leaders, who will engage with local corporate, civic, government and education leaders
• Navy simulator and other interactive displays
• Visits to area schools
• Community service projects and events with local sports franchises
• Visits with local veterans

Other selected cities are: Phoenix, New Orleans, Nashville, Tenn., Baltimore, Boston, Sacramento, Calif., Sioux Falls, S.D., Milwaukee, Chicago, Toledo, Ohio, Cleveland, Detroit, Buffalo, N.Y. and Houston.
