Happy Girls Run coming to Spokane | Events
From the Spokane Sports Commission:
Spokane now has its first all-women’s race – and it’s a regional favorite! Picked for its reputation as a great place for running, Spokane will be the first city outside Oregon to host a Happy Girls Run. The race offers a 5k, 10k and half marathon, attracting women of all abilities.
“I think I may come away from them as inspired as the runners themselves,” says Cynthia Engel, Happy Girls Race Director. “I love seeing best friends, mothers and daughters and first time racers all out there making it happen together. The vibe is fantastic.”
Race organizers at Lay It Out Events have perfected the art of hosting a great race with a festival-type atmosphere. Pre and post-race events will include some of Spokane’s best businesses and attractions.
Spokane’s Happy Girls Run will be Saturday, September 27, 2014. The race course will weave through the beautiful trails of Riverside State Park along the Spokane River combining gentle trails, groomed paths and paved surfaces.
Happy Girls Runs are known for pre-race gift bags given to race participants. A post-race tradition includes a custom finisher’s necklace given to half marathon runners as they cross the finish line.
“These races have a following and will draw women from around the northwest. Out-of-town visitors will stay in hotels, shop and take in our vibrant wine and restaurant scene. It’s a great event for the local economy and will continue to grow over the years,” says Eric Sawyer, Spokane Sports Commission President and CEO.
Registration for Spokane’s Happy Girls Run will open in early 2014. For more information, check out Happy Girls Run website.
