Lilac Parade brings downtown road closures | Events
The Spokane Lilac Festival Armed Forces Torchlight Parade doesn’t step off until 7:45 pm on Saturday, but road restrictions have already begun. Starting Friday and early Saturday morning cars parked at red bagged parking meters downtown will be towed to clear the way for the parade.
Starting Friday, vehicles parked at the red bagged meters by the Davenport Hotel will be towed. Cars parked at any other red bagged meters will be towed starting at 7 am on Saturday. Vehicles parked at yellow bagged meters will be towed beginning at 4 pm Saturday.
The following street closures will occur:
- The area near the Convention Center, Washington Street from Main Avenue to Spokane Falls Boulevard, Main from Stevens to Washington, and Spokane Falls Boulevard from Brown to Washington Street will be closed at 4 p.m.
- The area around Spokane Veteran’s arena from Boone to Spokane Falls Boulevard and Wall to Calispel will close at 4:30 p.m.
- Downtown from 2nd to Boone and Brown to Lincoln will close at 5 p.m.
All roads will reopen when the parade finishes around 11 pm. Spokane Police suggest taking Maple or Hamilton to avoid congestion if you don’t plan on attending the parade.
