Spokane drivers ranked among safest in the country | News
Allstate Insurance Company has released their ninth annual annual Allstate America's Best Drivers Report. The insurance company named Spokane drivers the 45th safest out of 200 of the nation's largest cities.
The report looks at the frequency of car collisions to identify which cities have the safest drivers. According Allstate, the average driver in Spokane will experience an auto collision every 10.3 years, which is about three percent less likely than the national average.
“Drivers in Spokane are making great progress toward keeping America's roadways safer,” said Shauna McBride, Allstate's Regional Spokesperson. “We salute Spokane's best drivers and recognize their safe driving skills, which make all of our communities safer places to live, work and raise families.”
Spokane was the highest ranked Washington city on the list with Vancouver taking the 82nd spot. Tacoma was ranked 144th and Seattle was ranked 160th. All three of those cities collision likelihoods were above the national average. Seattle drivers are 28.8 percent more likely to be in a collision than the national average.
Drivers in Fort Collins, Colorado were named the safest in the country. This is the third time that Fort Collins has topped the list in the last nine years. The report says that drivers there will only be involved in a collision every 13.9 years, which is 28.2 percent lower than the national average.
