Spokane City Council to honor Z Nation

It's the summer of the zombie apocalypse in Spokane, at least according to the Spokane City Council.

Council members are joining together tonight to salute “Z Nation” with a special salutation at tonight's 6pm City Council meeting.

“Z Nation” is set three years after a zombie apocalypse decimated the US and follows the journey of the only known survivor of the plague on a journey from New York to California where scientists hope to use his blood to create a vaccine.

“Z Nation” is being filmed at various locations around Spokane to represent a large swatch of the nation. The 13-episode series has employed nearly 200 actors, 1,300 extras and more than 100 crew members for a total of 12,000 worker days of employment.

Rich Cowan of North By Northwest Productions, will be on-hand to accept the salutation, with zombie heads from the props department, on display.
