More Roads Closing For Construction Downtown | Transportation
Here's some good news about road construction through downtown Spokane this week from City Hall:
Washington and Stevens streets from First to Third avenues will be closed on Wednesday, July 27, as part of paving work on Second Avenue rehabilitation project. The south half of Second Avenue between Browne and Howard streets will be paved, and motorists should consider alternative routes, including the Division/Browne streets and Maple/Ash streets corridors.
Work on the Second Avenue rehabilitation project began this spring. As part of the 10-Year Street Bond work, the City is rehabilitating Second Avenue from Arthur to Howard streets. The first phase from Arthur to Browne streets was completed earlier this summer. The entire project is expected to be complete by mid-September.
The project also has included replacing an 8-inch sewer main from Sheridan to Hatch streets and a water main from Howard to Stevens streets. Traffic signals are being upgraded, too.
The $2.1 million project is being funded by the 10-Year Street Bond, City of Spokane Water and Wastewater Departments, and safety funds.
