Photo Gallery | First Friday showing new pieces for August
If you think you've seen it all when it comes to First Friday's in downtown Spokane, you will be pleasantly surprised there are new things that will shown off this month.
Businesses in downtown Spokane are opening up once again Friday, August 3 to showcase local art. However, this time it's more than just paintings, music and good food. It's a chance to see hand crafted jewlery, glass art, pottery and even an opportunity to make your own art while learning about a street youth ministry.
There will be more than 40 venues opening up that night including one new venue. But there will be one new venue, Cup Of Cool Water at 1106 W. 2nd Avenue.
Cup of Cool Water is normally a ministry that focuses on helping street youth get back on their feet. They are opening their doors on Friday night to showcase the art of artist Charlie Schmidt as as the art of Em and some of their youth clients. There will also be live music and food, as well as tours of the ministry's drop in center. Visitors will also get the chance to grab some spray paint and create some of their own art on some canvas inside the drop in center.
Two other venues, Avenue West Gallery and the Trackside Ceramic Art Gallery, are not new venues but they are showcasing new pieces this month. Trackside has a few new pieces of ceramic pottery while Avenue West is taking this event to show off new handmade jewlery pieces.
